May 2, 2026: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has awarded a contract worth Rs. 640 million for the construction of two government schools in Seo Village, located in the Upper Kohistan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The project includes the establishment of a primary school and a high school under the Local Area Development Programme of the Dasu Hydropower Project, as part of WAPDA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The effort aims to uplift educational standards in this remote and underdeveloped region.
The contract signing ceremony was held at the project office, where DG (Social Safeguards) Maj. Tariq Mehmood (Retd) and a representative of the construction firm signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. The ceremony was also attended by Chief Engineer (Contracts) Salman Akram and other officials of the Dasu Hydropower Project.
According to the agreement, both schools are expected to be completed within two years and will feature modern classrooms, fully equipped computer and science laboratories, and dedicated staff rooms.
This initiative underscores WAPDA’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and empowering local communities, contributing to long-term socio-economic development in the region.
